(VOVWORLD) - Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov said Wednesday that there were positive signals for the resolution of the Ukraine crisis following a meeting of the French and Ukrainian leaders in Kyiv.

According to Peskov, the issue can only be solved when the Minsk agreements signed in 2015 between Kyiv and separatists in eastern Ukraine are fulfilled.

But he said there is no indication that Kyiv is ready to do what it should have done long ago.

On Monday and Tuesday, French President Emmanuel Macron paid a visit to Russia and Ukraine and held talks with the leaders of those countries to seek a way to relieve the current tensions between Moscow and the West.

At a press conference on Wednesday, Stanislav Zas, Secretary General of the Collective Security Treaty Organization (CSTO), said the organization is ready to participate in the talks  between Russia and the West on proposals to ensure security if necessary.
