(VOVWORLD) - No sanctions can force Russia to change its stance on Ukraine, Kremlin Spokesman Dmitry Peskov told the media on Monday.

The unprecedented number of sanctions imposed on Russia over the past four years has had no effect, Peskov said, adding that Ukraine and Europe are actively pushing the United States to impose new restrictions.
The European Union's sanctions envoy David O'Sullivan is in Washington with a team of experts to discuss further sanctions against Russia with US counterparts, the European Commission said on Monday. The European Commission is working on its 19th package of sanctions against Russia, expected to be unveiled by September 12.
At an online summit on Monday, BRICS countries agreed to keep working together on the Ukraine issue and to support the "Friends of Peace" group in the crisis.
