Lavrov made the statement at a press conference with visiting Secretary General of the Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe, Thomas Greminger. More and more contradictions have accumulated between Russia and the US, two leading nuclear powers, Lavrov said, adding that the channels for settling these contradictions had not been used for a long period. The cancellation created an unacceptable situation from the perspective of global security. According to Lavrov, the dialogue could include the Intermediate-Range Nuclear Forces Treaty (INF), which the US plans to abandon, and the New Strategic Arms Reduction Treaty (New START), which expires in 2021.
