This will be President Putin's second trip abroad since the Russia Ukraine conflict began on February 24.
In a phone call on Sunday, President Putin and President Erdogan emphasized the importance of trilateral meetings with Iran, as well as the deployment of troops in Syria under the Astana peace process.
Russia, Turkey and Iran have in recent years been holding talks as part of the so-called “Astana peace process” to end more than 11 years of conflict in Syria.
