(VOVworld) – Russia Defense Minister Sergei Shoigu and US Defense Secretary Ash Carter held a talk on Friday over situations in Syria and Iraq.
Russian Defense Ministry said that the two sides emphasized the need to coordinate bilateral efforts with multilateral efforts in a war against international terrorism.
The two agreed to further discuss mechanisms to eliminate conflicts in Syria and the IS. The ministry said the two sides reached consensus on most of discussed issues.
The Pentagon confirmed a 50-minute phone call, calling it the first exchange between the two military chief over the past year.
