Russia-Africa Summit to open in St. Petersburg

(VOVWORLD) -The Russia-Africa Summit will open on Thursday in St. Petersburg to discuss measures to strengthen the multifaceted partnership for sustainable development between Russia and African countries.

President Vladimir Putin on Wednesday sent greetings to the participants. He noted that Africa is a pole of the emerging multipolar world. In Africa, positive changes have created momentum for manufacturing, agriculture, transport infrastructure, fuel and energy, health, education, and other fields.
Putin said that Russia supports the aspirations of African countries for stability and economic and social progress.
In recent years, cooperation between Russia and Africa has risen to a new height. Russia intends to raise bilateral cooperation in trade and investment, jointly solve urgent problems such as poverty, human resources training, food security, and climate change.
He emphasized that Russia will continue to support African partners in every possible way to strengthen their national sovereignty, and it will engage more in resolving regional and global problems.
