(VOVWORLD) -Russia’s Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov has praised Vietnam's role in the region and in ASEAN and affirmed Moscow's support for ASEAN's centrality in the regional architecture.

During talks with Foreign Minister Bui Thanh Son in Hanoi on Wednesday, Lavrov said he believes that Vietnam will be an important bridge to help Russia further cooperation with the region, including promoting the ASEAN-Russia strategic partnership.
Both Foreign Ministers reviewed the implementation of agreements reached between the two countries' senior leaders and discussed measures to promote the Vietnam-Russia comprehensive strategic partnership. They said that despite difficulties caused by the COVID-19 pandemic, bilateral relationship has developed in many fields.
The two Ministers reviewed the cooperation between the two foreign ministries and agreed on the implementation plan. Discussing global and regional issues of mutual concern, they agreed to continue strengthening coordination at regional and global organizations and forums.
Minister Son said he hopes that the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and relevant ministries and sectors of Russia will continue to create favorable conditions for the Vietnamese community to do business, live and study stably in Russia.
