Russia’s 75th Victory Day celebrated online amid COVID-19

(VOVWORLD) - The COVID-19 pandemic transformed Russia’s 9 May Victory Day celebrations.

Russian President Vladimir Putin on Saturday took part in the nationwide Immortal Regiment online march from his Kremlin office. The march, part of activities marking the 75th anniversary of the defeat of Nazi Germany in World War II, was  broadcast on public screens in across Russia, social networks, and the portal of the Immortal Regiment of Russia.

Other highlights of the celebration included an air show by Russia's Air Force across the country, firework displays, and locals with photos of their relatives who sacrificed during World War II singing the song “Victory Day” at their bacolnies at 7PM (local time).
