Russia’s Itar-Tass news agency quoted Sergei Naryshkin, speaker of the State Duma, or lower house of the parliament, saying that any dialogue, especially inter-parliamentary ones, should be held on the basis of equality, with respect for each others' opinions. He said that the US should break its habit of domination and abandon the idea of exceptionalism, adding that any dialogue would be useless if these ideas still prevail. Naryshkin expressed the hope that the US would understand its international responsibility in the end so that such dialogue could become possible sooner or later. The speaker also said that despite anti-Russian sanctions, the State Duma is still actively interacting with European counterparts.
