Russia's presidential election date set Sunday, November 27, 2011 | 20:14:31 The upper house of the Russian parliament has set the date of next year's presidential elections as March 4, 2012. The Ria Novosti news agency reported that Vladimir Putin, former president and current prime minister, has received the official nomination from his United Russia party. The other confirmed candidates are Vladimir Zhirinovsky of the rightwing LDPR party, and Communist party leader Gennady Zyuganov. Official results of the presidential election will be available on March 17.
