Scholarships support disadvantaged pupils in Ben Tre province

(VNA) - 147 scholarships have been presented to poor, orphaned, and disabled students at all levels in the southern province of Ben Tre to support their 2012-2013 academic year. The scholarships, totaling about 6,000 USD, were jointly provided by the Vietnam’s Friends Association in France, the Vietnam Dairy Products Joint Stock Company (Vinamilk), and the Ben Tre provincial Association for Victims of Agent Orange/Dioxin. Scholarships for disadvantaged children have recently been awarded twice a year. On this occasion, the provincial People’s Committee presented the Prime Minister’s Certificate of Merit to Vietnamese Canadian Vo Thi Hao for her contributions to charitable activities in the province.
