The Prime Minister said he himself, ministries, and sectors should pay particular attention to search and rescue in emergencies: “People and sectors at all levels should improve their ability to mobilize and manage local resources, materials, and equipment in response to natural disasters. The National Committee for Search and Rescue has the main responsibility when a disaster occurs. The Committee, ministries, sectors, and localities are asked to improve their ability to deal with any disaster.”

Prime Minister Phuc asked search and rescue forces to step up efforts to find Senior Lieutenant Colonel Tran Quang Khai, a pilot who went missing when his Su 30MK2 aircraft went down on June 14 during a training session off the coast of Nghe An province. His co-pilot, Major Nguyen Huu Cuong, was rescued on June 15.
