Singapore parliament speaker wraps up his official visit to Vietnam

(VOVWORLD) - Singapore's Parliament Speaker Tan Chuan-Jin and his wife on Friday concluded their 4-day official visit to Vietnam.

Speaker Tan held talks with National Assembly Chairman Vuong Dinh Hue, met Party General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong, President Nguyen Xuan Phuc, and  Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh.

During the visit, Speaker Tan received Bui Van Cuong, Secretary General of the National Assembly of Vietnam, Head of the National Assembly Office, and Chairman of the Vietnam-ASEAN Friendship Parliamentary Group.

He laid wreaths and visited President Ho Chi Minh Mausoleum and Uncle Ho's stilt house. He also visited the Temple of Literature and Chu Van An High School in Hanoi.

At high-level talks and meetings, Vietnamese and Singaporean leaders stressed the importance of the visit to promoting the bilateral Strategic Partnership as the two countries are looking forward to the 50th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations and the 10th anniversary of their Strategic Partnership in 2023.

The Vietnamese leaders said that the presence of Mr. Tan at the 31st SEA Games is a great encouragement to the host country Vietnam and to the Singapore sports delegation. The two sides affirmed not only economic connection but also strategic connection between the two countries.
