At least 20 Pakistani soldiers were killed and 25 others wounded when three bombs struck a military convoy in a northwestern area, said officials on Sunday. According to the Urdu Express TV channel, the first bomb was remotely detonated as a military convoy was on its way from Razmak to Miranshah in northern Waziristan, near the Afghani border. Local authorities confirmed that 14 soldiers were killed and 21 wounded by this first bomb. A second bomb exploded an hour later when another military convoy was attacked in the Charsadda district of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa in northwest Pakistan, 3 soldiers and wounding one. A military convoy was also struck by a bomb in a tribal area of Northwest Mohmand, killing 3 soldiers. No group has claimed responsibility for the incident, but Taliban fighters frequently attack security force convoys in the area.
