Pretoria - With less than a week to go before election day, the IEC launched its National Results Operations Center in Pretoria.
(VOVworld) - The Independent Electoral Commission (IEC) says it’s ready for a democratic and transparent election next week. Sy Mamabolo, IEC’s deputy chief electoral officer, told reporters on Friday that the infrastructure for the election day has been completed and tested successfully.
On Thursday, the IEC launched the national Results Operation Centre (ROC) in Pretoria with the participation of President Jacob Zuma, representatives of civil organizations, political parties, international observers, and diplomatic corps.
This is the fifth election of South Africa since the first vote in 1994. Thousands of voting stations are expected to accommodate over 25-million voters on May 7 to select 400 National Assembly and 430 provincial legislature seat.
