South Korea, China agree to boost President Xi Jinping's visit

(VOVWORLD) -South Korean Foreign Minister Chung Eui-yong and his Chinese counterpart Wang Yi agreed to boost high-level visits between the two countries as they talked on the phone on Tuesday.

Foreign Minister Wang reaffirmed President Xi Jinping's plan to visit South Korea. Both sides agreed on continued discussions for Mr. Xi to visit Seoul soon when the COVID-19 epidemic subsides.

The two foreign ministers also pledged to cooperate to successfully organize the “Korean-Chinese cultural exchange year" this year and the following year. They  exchanged views on the specific direction to develop the “Northeast Asia Regional Health and Disease Cooperation Mechanism” established late last year, and agreed to maintain the sustainable development cooperation mechanism.

The South Korean and Chinese foreign ministers discussed the situation of the Korean peninsula and the region. They agreed to strengthen cooperation towards stabilizing the Korean peninsula, creating substantial conditions for the goal of complete denuclearization and permanent peace on the Korean peninsula.
