South Korean President Yoon Suk Yeol begins state visits to Saudi Arabia, Qatar

(VOVWORLD) - South Korean President Yoon Suk Yeol left for Saudi Arabia and Qatar on Saturday in what would be the first state visit by a South Korean leader to the two Middle Eastern countries. The visit will last until next Wednesday.

From Saturday to Tuesday, President Yoon will visit Riyadh and hold a summit with Saudi Crown Prince and Prime Minister Mohammed bin Salman, before attending various economic events. From Tuesday to Wednesday, the President will visit Doha and hold talks with Qatari Emir, Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani.

The visit reflects South Korea’s wish to reinforce its existing cooperative relationship with Saudi Arabia and Qatar, and explore new areas of cooperation. South Korea’s partnership with the Middle Eastern region will go beyond energy and construction to a new stage that encompasses hydrogen, IT, autos, shipbuilding, renewable energy, culture, entertainment and other future industry sectors.
