The Southern Students’ School was in operation from 1954 to 1975 serving southern school children aged from 4 to 17. They were the children of soldiers, revolutionary activists and social beneficiaries and were sent to the north to study to prepare for the revolution in the south and later national construction.

During its 21 years with 28 classes, the school produced excellent students, many of whom later became leaders and officials of Party and State agencies and the armed forces, scientists, poets, musicians, and writers. In his address, Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc highlighted the importance of the school saying its establishment brought about valuable lessons on education and human resource preparation. The Prime Minister said many lessons were learnt for today’s education especially in the context of opportunities and challenges of the 4th Industrial Revolution.
