(VOVworld) – The Steering Committee for the Southwestern Region held a conference in Can Tho city on Monday to review its performance in the first half of this year and implement tasks for the rest of the year.

Deputy Prime Minister and Head of the Committee Vuong Dinh Hue praised the achievements of the local provinces and cities and urged more effort to implement government resolution No1 on socio-economic development plans for 2016. He stressed the need to continue to improve the business climate and speed up the disbursement of public investment. The Deputy Prime Minister also called on localities to develop cultivation areas and aquaculture, while boosting inter-regional linkage.

The Steering Committee for the Southwestern Region will organize conferences on agricultural restructuring, building new rural areas, attracting investment and assisting the poor in the Mekong river delta.
