Each polling station will be open to 8PM local time. Several polling stations opened in Kamchatka and Chukotka late Saturday night. After thirteen years, the mixed principle has been used in elections to the State Duma. This time, half of the parliament’s seats will be occupied by deputies included in the federal candidate lists of 14 political parties which clear the 5 percent threshold. The other half will be taken up by candidates elected according to a first-past-the-post system. Observers predict the four dominant political parties represented in the State Duma remain the United Russia, the Communist Party of the Russian Federation (KPRF), the Liberal Democratic Party of Russia (LDPR), and the Fair Russia (SR).
