He asked the appointed diplomats to promote Vietnam as an independent, self-reliant, peaceful nation on the path to development and a friend of the international community.
"We must ensure socio-economic development while maintaining a peaceful and stable environment for national development,” President Cuong said.
Ambassadors and heads of Vietnam's representative missions abroad appointed today must build cohesive and effective foreign missions, maintain good relations with host countries, and promptly provide consultation to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, he added. “This will allow Vietnam to uphold consistent diplomacy of being a friend, a reliable partner, and a responsible member of the international community."
President Cuong asked the diplomats to prioritize seeking and promoting cooperations in economy, trade, investment, science and technology, education and training, and healthcare. They must also effectively carry out citizen protection work and support the nearly six million overseas Vietnamese, mobilizing their intellectual and financial resources to contribute to Vietnam’s development, he said.
