Strengthening comprehensive strategic partnership between Vietnam and China

(VOVworld) - Former Chinese Ambassador to Vietnam and Vice President of the Chinese Vietnamese Friendship Association, Qi Jiangguo, told Vietnamese newspapers prior to Party General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong’s official visit to China at the invitation of General Secretary and President Xi Jinping that the important visit coincided with the 65th anniversary of diplomatic ties.
He was optimistic about bilateral ties, saying that both countries respected major situations and settle remaining issues properly to foster bilateral relations. He said to promote bilateral comprehensive strategic partnership, both needs to implement the 16-letter-motto and 4 goods’ spirit and promote practical cooperation in all areas.
Regarding the East Sea issue, Qi said Vietnam and China should make full use of existing negotiation mechanism, hot line conversations and refrain difference to settle emerging issues, while joining Southeast Asian countries to fully implement the Declaration on the Conducts of Parties in the East Sea and promote negotiation for the Code of Conducts for Parties in the East Sea.
