Syria and UN Chief hold "frank and constructive" talks

Kofi Annan had a “frank and constructive” meeting Monday in Damascus with Syrian President Bashar al-Assad.

Annan told the press they  agreed on the importance of halting the violence and discussed ways to do this. They also agreed on a new political approach, which Annan will share with the Syrian opposition to end the conflict in Syria. After his trip to Syria, Annan will keep talks with Al-Assad and call for support from Syrian state and other influential sides.
