(VOVworld) - UN Syria envoy Staffan de Mistura said Thursday that the next round of Syria peace talks will begin in Geneva next Wednesday after he concludes his visits to Syria and Iran.

Mistura told the media he will return to Geneva either Tuesday or Wednesday and said his meetings with the governments of Syria and other regional countries are particularly important for the coming round of talks.

An earlier round of talks ended on March 24 with de Mistura convinced that the Syrian government will move beyond discussing principles and procedure in the next round, which was originally scheduled to begin on April 9 and was later pushed back to April 11.
