Syrian opposition has rejected a proposal for dialogue by UN-Arab League special envoy Kofi Annan, saying Damascus deteriorated a prospect of reaching agreement through dialogue. Former UN Chief Annan said on Thursday that he will call for an end of conflicts between Syrian President Bashar al-Assad and the opposition. But Hadi Abdullah, the Syrian opposition’s representative in the city of Homs, renounced any dialogue, citing tanks shell towns, bloodsheds continue to happen, and many areas are without electricity, communications, and water. Syria’s main opposition alliance has previously ruled out a possible dialogue while Assad remains in power.

In another development, the UN Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs said the UN has prepared food stocks for 1.5 million Syrians as part of a 90-day emergency plan to help civilians deprived of basic supplies after nearly a year of conflicts.
