Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi, "the caliph" and "leader for Muslims everywhere"
(VOVworld) – Syrian rebel groups have not acknowledged the “Islamic caliphate” self-proclaimed by the Islamic State in Iraq and the Levant (ISIL), calling it worthless and with no affect. Syrian opposition, including the Islamic Front and Ansar al Mujahideen Network, an Al-Qaeda satellite group, warned all Islamic forces and jhads not to serve the ISIL’s self-claim state, adding that this was an establishment aimed at destroying revolutions in Iraq and Syria.
The warning was released a day after ISIL’s announcement on the establishment of an Islamic caliphate including captured territory from northern Syria to eastern Iraq. The new caliphate announced its leader as Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi, "the caliph" and "leader for Muslims everywhere". ISIL has been involved in the revolt against Syrian President Bashar al-Assad's government.
