(VOVWorld) – Pakistani Army Chief of Staff General Raheel Sharif said Thursday that Wednesday’s deadly assault on Bacha Khan University in northwestern Pakistan was “being controlled from a location in Afghanistan”.
A fugitive member of the Pakistani Taliban gave instructions through an Afghan cell phone, he added. General Sharif telephoned Afghan President Ashraf Ghani to share details of the investigation and sought the cooperation of Afghanistan in tracing and hunting down the militants.
Twenty one people, mostly students, were killed in the gun attack on Bacha Khan University campus in Charsadda, Pakistan. Omar Mansoor, commander of the Pakistani Taliban group, claimed responsibility for the attack.
