Pakistan’s university attacks: at least 21 people killed

(VOVworld) – Pakistani police said the death toll has risen to 21 people and about 50 wounded after Islamist Taliban militants stormed a university in northwestern Pakistan on Wednesday.

The militants scaled the walls of the Bacha Khan University in Charsadda, northwestern Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province, before entering buildings and opening fire on students and teachers in classrooms and hostels. Police chief Saeed Wazir said the operation to secure the university had concluded and the victims are being treated.  
Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) has claimed responsibility for the attack which was in retaliation for army’s attacks on its headquarters. Its commander, Omar Mansoor, said the attack was carried out by four suicide bombers.
