Teaching people how to respond to China’s violation of international law

(VOVworld) – Provincial authorities nationwide are teaching people how to respond to China’s illegal placement of an oil rig in Vietnam’s exclusive economic zone and continental shelf.  Earlier, extremists urged workers to burn and destroy factories in the Vung Ang economic zone and industrial parks in Binh Duong province. Trade unions across the country are taking steps to protect foreign investors and Chinese enterprises in Vietnam.

Grassroots-level efforts are required to make people clearly understand the situation in the East Sea and remind them not to harm foreign investors and business leaders in Vietnam. Nguyen Duc Thanh is vice chairman of Da Nang city’s Labor Federation: "We have asked trade unions at all levels to closely follow the development of businesses and their employees. We especially want to ensure the safe operation of Chinese and Taiwanese invested companies. We are asking workers to maintain social order."
Provincial authorities have talked to residents and workers and asked them to watch for provocateurs. Authorities at industrial parks are collaborating with functional agencies to adopt measures that will ensure the safety of foreign businesses and discourage vandalism.
