(VOVWORLD) - Three ships carrying Lunar New Year (Tet) items for people and soldiers on the Truong Sa archipelago left Cam Ranh port in Khanh Hoa province on Friday.

The cargo include dozens of tons of essential goods and gifts from the Ministry of National Defense and from mainlanders, such as sticky rice, pork, fish sauce, beverage, vegetables, fruits, kumquat trees, and flowers.

Le Dinh Hai, Chairman of Truong Sa district People’s Committee, said: “In the lead up to Tet 2019, Truong Sa islanders have received gifts from mainlanders. The people and soldiers on Truong Sa Island are thankful for the care by Vietnamese people across the nation. We promise to be united to develop the island’s economy and society and protect the national sovereignty over sea and islands.”
