Bangkok Post newspaper quoted Puchong Nutrawong, secretary-general of the EC, as saying that the Commission will send a letter to Yingluck before February 11 asking her government to issue a royal decree for a new voting date.

In related news, the National Security Council said it does not expect rally activities led by the People's Democratic Reform Committee (PDRC) to last until the Songkran Festival in April as vowed by the PDRC because the sources of financial support for the protesters are being blocked by authorities. The Thai government has said it will establish a 12-member commission to arrest 19 PDRC leaders followed by the Criminal Court’s order.
