Thailand reruns elections in 5 provinces

(VOVworld) –Around 120,000 people have been registered in 101 constituencies across five provinces south of Bangkok for the Sunday vote, according to Thai Election Commissioner Somchai Srisutthiyakorn. These constituencies were blocked by protestors during the country’s general election on February 2nd

Srisutthiyakorn also said that the results of the vote will not be announced until supplementary elections are conducted in all constituencies before April, the deadline for the completion of the election process. Until then, Ms. Yingluck Shinawatra remains the country’s caretaker Prime Minister.

Meanwhile, Thai protesters started to leave most of their protest sites in Bangkok on Sunday after they had announced to end the city’s blockade. They have moved their tents to Lumpini Park in central Bangkok, their protesting areas in recent weeks.
