Chiang Rai’s Governor Narongsak Osatanakorn said they are safe but the mission is not yet complete.  The governor said experts would continue to drain water out of the cave, while doctors and nurses have been sent to dive in and check on the health of the stranded boys and coach. He said 16 special naval soldiers were sent to the mountainside to console stranded people and provide them with prompt assistance. Meanwhile, the Thai army said that the evacuation of the stranded victims will take a long time, due to the complicated route required to navigate the cave exit, in addition to needing to dive through areas flooded up to 5 metres. The Thai army has proposed giving food and water to the group and training them to scuba dive, which could possibly take up to 4 months.
