The Nation published strong reactions from Vietnam and the Philippines. It said ASEAN will definitely not remain silent in this matter although it will affect relations with China. According to the newspaper, the US said disputes in the East Sea have become one of its concerns and Washington considers China’s landing of its aircraft on the Fiery Cross Reef a threat to regional stability.

The Bangkok Post said China must be responsible for creating unnecessary and dangerous conflicts. It said China should be cautious and consider other countries’ attitudes. The newspaper said China has created major risks to aviation safety with its flights over Vietnam’s Truong Sa archipelago and that Beijing should immediately stop its wrongful decision.
