Thua Thien-Hue gives digital spin to royal antiquities

(VOVWORLD) - The Hue Monuments Conservation Center said on Friday that it has partnered with Phygital Labs to digitize 10 artifacts of the Nguyen Dynasty and bring to life the first Metaverse virtual gallery integrated with the Apple Vision Pro.

The antiquities include a throne, a palanquin, and shoes worn for rituals, as well as golden branches and jade leaves for interior décor. Thanks to the application of the Near Field Communication (NFC) technology and Nomion, a unique digital identifier for physical products, visitors can unlock the antiquities’ digital content through their smartphones to gain insight into their history, origin, and cultural significance.

“The artifacts will be given a unique digital identifier. We have also created a three-dimensional exhibition space, which will help popularize Vietnamese heritage to domestic and international visitors,” said Hoang Viet Trung, Director of the Hue Monuments Conservation Center.

The artifacts will be displayed at Phygital Lab’s first ever Metaverse virtual gallery – museehue.vn – where the digitally identified artifacts and their stories will be displayed in a vivid historical and cultural space.
