Top Cuban leader arrives in Hanoi, beginning state visit to Vietnam
(VOVWORLD) - First Secretary of the Communist Party of Cuba Central Committee and President of Cuba Miguel Díaz-Canel Bermúdez and his spouse Lis Cuesta Peraza arrived in Hanoi on Sunday for a state visit to Vietnam at the invitation of Party General Secretary To Lam and his spouse.

During the three-day visit, they will attend a ceremony marking the 80th anniversary of Vietnam’s August Revolution and National Day on Tuesday.
Cuban Ambassador to Vietnam Rogelio Polanco Fuentes said this is the first visit to Vietnam by Miguel Díaz-Canel Bermúdez in his capacity as First Secretary of the Communist Party of Cuba Central Committee and President of Cuba.
He previously visited Vietnam twice, in June 2013 as First Vice President of the Council of State and the Council of Ministers, and in November 2018 as President of the Council of State and the Council of Ministers.
During this visit, the Cuban leader will hold talks with Vietnam’s top leaders and take part in various important activities to further strengthen the historic friendship and cooperation between the two countries. He will also attend a ceremony marking the 65th anniversary of diplomatic ties between Cuba and Vietnam.
