Top leader applauds political essay contest for protecting Party's ideological foundation

(VOVWORLD) -Protecting the Party's ideological foundation and fighting against wrong and hostile views must be closely linked to economic, cultural and social development and improvement of people’s life, in which bringing prosperity and happiness to the people is the key factor, said General Secretary and President To Lam.

The top leader addressed the awarding ceremony of the fourth Political Essay Contest on Protecting the Party's Ideological Foundation in Hanoi on Sunday evening. He praised the Ho Chi Minh National Academy of Politics, Central Steering Committee 35, central and local agencies for their achievements in undertaking the task of protecting the Party's ideological foundation.

The top leader emphasized that after 40 years of doi moi (renewal), with the accumulated position and power, Vietnam has had all the necessary conditions and is facing a historic opportunity to enter a new era of national rise.

“I hope and believe that, with the established prestige and pervasiveness, the Political Essay Contest on Protecting the Party's Ideological Foundation will continue to reform itself, closely follow practical requirements, and serve more effectively political tasks of agencies, units, localities and the country, contributing to building and firmly protecting the socialist Fatherland of Vietnam," he said. 

This year's contest drew more than 468,000 entries, including more than 35,000 works by young people and students, 610 works by Vietnamese people working or studying abroad and 13 works by foreigners.

Organizers awarded 20 collective prizes, prizes for the oldest and youngest author,  20 prize of prospect, 12 A prizes, 22 B prizes, 37 C prizes and 63 consolation prizes. The Voice of Vietnam won one A prize and one consolation prize.
