Top leader opens new school year at Vietnam Academy of Agricultural Sciences

(VOVWORLD) -Party General Secretary and State President To Lam on Saturday attended the opening ceremony of the new school year 2024-2025 of the Vietnam Academy of Agricultural Sciences and inaugurated a capacity building project from official development assistance (ODA) of the World Bank (WB).

Addressing the ceremony, the top leader emphasized that as Vietnam is entering a new era with the nation's aspiration to rise, the agriculture and rural development sector and the Vietnam Academy of Agricultural Sciences  need to be deeply aware of the vision of a new historical starting point, clearly define their roles and responsibilities to constantly innovate and move forward.

Lam affirmed the Party and State’s policy that considers education and training a top national policy and science and technology a key to the country's development and prosperity. Therefore, the Academy must be an important entity in the national innovation system, meeting the needs of the knowledge economy, circular economy and digital transformation, he said.

The General Secretary and President urged the Academy to strive to be the country's leading training and research center and also a highly prestigious tertiary education institution in the region and the world, a center of innovation, a reliable address for national startups. The Academy also needs to map out a master plan to follow the model of advanced research universities in the world, he said.
