This will be Mr. To Lam’s first visit abroad in his capacity as Party General Secretary and President of Vietnam and is an extremely important foreign affairs activity between Vietnam and China this year, which will have a huge impact on the development of relations between the two Parties and two countries.

Le Hoai Trung, head of the Communist Party of Vietnam Central Committee’s Commission for External Relations said that the top leaders of Vietnam and China will review the relationship between the two Parties and countries, particularly the results of agreements reached during the visit of former Party General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong to China in 2022 and the visit of Party General Secretary and President of China Xi Jinping to Vietnam in 2023.

According to Vietnamese Foreign Minister Bui Thanh Son, the two sides expect the visit to achieve results in a number of areas, consolidate political trust, and strengthen bilateral relations in the new period.

They will agree on major directions and measures to effectively build a Vietnam-China community with a shared future that carries strategic significance, discuss candidly, sincerely, and substantively territorial border issues, work together to properly handle existing problems, better control and resolve disagreements at sea, and not let problems at sea affect the healthy development of relations between the two Parties and two countries, contributing to maintaining peace, stability, cooperation and development in the region and the world.
