Top legislator meets Russian and Chinese leaders

(VOVWORLD) - National Assembly Chairwoman Nguyen Thi Kim Ngan said Sunday that Vietnam is ready to participate in all activities held by Russia and she hopes Russia will continue to work closely with Vietnam during the 2017 APEC Year.

Ms. Ngan was meeting with Valentina Ivanovna Matviyenko, Chairwoman of the Federation Council of Russia, on the sidelines of the 137th Inter-Parliamentary Union (IPU-137) Assembly in Saint Petersburg.

Ms. Ngan said she is glad to see the fine development of relations between Vietnam and Russia and said the two have regularly exchanged delegations at all levels and will continue to strengthen cooperation in tourism and culture.

Chairwoman Ngan called on the two legislative bodies to increase exchanges experience and cooperation for mutual benefit.

At a reception the same day for Zhang Ping, Vice Chairperson of the Standing Committee of the National People’s Congress of China, Ms. Ngan said the Vietnamese Party and State treasure ties with China, regarding it as a top priority in Vietnam’s foreign policy.

At the plenary session of the 137th IPU Assembly on Sunday, National Assembly Chairwoman Ngan delivered a key speech.
