In his opening remarks, US Secretary of State Antony Blinken said the US would discuss its deep concerns over actions by China in Xinjiang, Hong Kong, and Taiwan, cyber attacks on the United States, and economic coercion of allies. Blinken said China’s actions threaten the rules-based order that maintains global stability.

China’s top diplomat, Yang Jiechi, accused the United States of using its military might and financial supremacy to pressure countries and of abusing national security to threaten the future of international trade. Yang said China firmly opposes US interference in its internal affairs but is hoping for no confrontation, no conflict, mutual respect, and win-win cooperation with the United States.
