Nguyen Trung Khanh told a conference in Ha Long City on Tuesday that the reopening will restore the sector, boost international trade, and reaffirm Vietnam’s reputation a safe, friendly destination.
Mr. Khanh announced a plan to reopen both inbound and outbound tourism activities with top priority given to health safety measures. International tourism activities must comply with immigration, health, and related regulations set by Vietnam and other countries and territories, he added.
Hoang Dao Cuong, Deputy Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism, said his Ministry will continue to work with functional agencies and localities to ensure that tourism activities to attain the sector’s targets for this year are carried out safely.
“Vietnam will face fierce competition for tourism revenues with other countries around the globe, so we need to improve the competitiveness and attractiveness of our tourist destinations in order to welcome 5 million foreign visitors this year,” said Cuong, adding “Ministries, agencies, and localities must ensure the safety of visitors, make sure air travel complies with the health sector’s guidelines, and increase promotions and advertising.”
