Traditional Asian New Year celebrated in Hanoi

(VOVworld) - A get-together was held Thursday in Hanoi to celebrate the traditional New Years of Laos, Thailand, Cambodia, Myanmar, India, Bangladesh and Sri Lanka.

The event was co-organized by the Hanoi Union of Friendship Organizations, the embassies of Asian countries in Vietnam, the Hanoi Buddhist Shangha, and the Vietnam Friendship Associations with Laos, Cambodia and Thailand. Chairman of the Hanoi Fatherland Front Dao Van Binh said the event reflects Hanoiains’ warm sentiments towards foreign friends and will help consolidate Vietnam’s friendly relations with other countries around the world.

In Ho Chi Minh city, a youth exchange between students from Vietnam, Laos, and Cambodia was held Thursday to mark the Lao Bunpimay traditional New Year festival and Cambodia's Chol Chnam Thmay festival.
