(VOVworld) – A training workshop on external information development strategy for the 2011-2020 period and the government’s action program on external information for the 2013-2020 period opened in Hanoi on Thursday. The event was co-hosted by the Ministry of Information and Communications and the Steering Committee of Information and Foreign Affairs, and attended by cadres from 26 northern cities and provinces. Participants were informed of regional and global current affairs and Vietnam’s recent achievements. Le Van Nghiem, Director of the External Information Department under the Ministry of Information and Communications, says: “The government strategy points out that the government in charge of the management of external information. This is important. First, the overseas services should disseminate the Party’s guidelines, the State’s policy and law, and Vietnam’s stance in international and regional issues. Second, we should introduce and promote the images of our country, people, history, culture, and achievements. Third, we should inform our domestic audiences of happenings in the world and foreign culture values. Forth, we should criticize distorted information by hostile forces and political opportunists.”
