Two events of SEA Games 31 cancelled
(VOVWORLD) - Two events - women’s weightlifting and men’s hammer throwing – will be cancelled at the upcoming Games.

Pursuant to regulations of the Southeast Asian Sports Council, a competition can only be played if at least 3 countries have registered to participate.
As of Tuesday, only Indonesia and Thailand had registered for the women’s weightlifting event. In the men’s hammer throwing, only Thailand and Malaysia had registered to compete.
Earlier the women’s beach handball event was canceled for the same reason, with only teams from Thailand and Vietnam registering.
The SEA Games 31 will open in Hanoi next Thursday. 10,000 athletes and coaches from 11 Southeast Asian sports delegations will compete in 40 sports across 526 events.
