Two Vietnamese footballers to play for Japan's Ryukyu FC

(VOVWORLD) -Local footballers Cao Van Trien, a midfielder for Sai Gon FC, and Tran Danh Trung, a striker for Viettel FC, are set to fly to Japan in early July to join J2 League side Ryukyu FC.

Van Trien, 28, was born in Binh Dinh province and was first called up to the senior team in December 2020, after the midfielder put in a number of great displays for Sai Gon FC.

21-year-old striker Danh Trung is from Hue city. He initially rose to prominence after making great contributions to Viettel FC’s title winning season in 2020.

In addition, Trung has represented the national team at various youth levels, competing in the ASEAN Football Federation (AFF) U22 Youth Championship and the Asian Football Confederation (AFC) U23 Championship in 2019.

Saigon FC said it will replace coach Vu Tien Thanh with Japanese expert Shimoda Masahiro, who will start leading the team from the 4th round of V-League 2021.
