Typhoon Mangkhut, Florence bring destruction in their wake
(VOVWORLD) - The world's strongest storm this year, Typhoon Mangkhut, continued on its path of destruction across Southeast Asia, reaching mainland China on Sunday afternoon after pummeling Hong Kong, and killing at least 59 in the Philippines.
Two people have been killed and 2.5 million people had been evacuated in China's Guangdong province by the time Mangkhut made landfall, according to Chinese state media. In Hong Kong, the storm wrecked buildings and shut down the city.
On Saturday, tropical storm Florence hit and caused severe damages in the Carolinas. CNN says at least 13 people have died from flooding and falling trees.
