(VOVWORLD) - The UK government on Thursday confirmed it will host a global AI summit in early November, bringing together government officials, companies, and researchers at Bletchley Park to consider the risks and development of AI technologies and discuss how they can be mitigated through internationally coordinated action.
Prime Minister Rishi Sunak emphasized that the UK has long been home to the transformative technologies of the future, so there is no better place to host the first ever global AI safety summit than at Bletchley Park this November.
The conference is planned in the context of governments around the world facing the difficult problem of how to control the potential risks of AI without stifling innovation and creativity.
In May, leaders of the G7 called on countries to adopt global standards to safely and reliably develop AI technology, and agreed to set up a ministerial forum for the development of AI technology.
