UN calls for 29 billion USD for humanitarian aid

(VOVWORLD) - The UN on Wednesday launched a program to raise 29 billion USD for people affected by climate change and violent conflicts.

By next year, 168 million people will need food, shelter, and medical aid, according to the Global Health Observatory (GHO). Mark Lowcock, UN Under Secretary General for Humanitarian Affairs and Emergency Relief Coordinator, said this is the record number since World War II and will continue to rise as conflicts become more prolonged and intense.
