(VOVWORLD) - Addressing world leaders at the 58th Munich Security Conference (MSC) on Friday, United Nations Secretary General Antonio Guterres said that it was high time to “seriously de-escalate” the Ukraine’s crisis.

“There is no alternative to diplomacy,” the UN chief said, adding that the threat to global security today “is more complex and probably higher” than during the Cold War.
Meanwhile MSC Chairman Wolfgang Ischinger called the 58th conference the "most important" event since he led the MSC in the past 14 years. He added that the world has never had so many urgent and dangerous crises as today, from the Ukraine crisis, to the COVID-19 pandemic, the issue of Afghanistan, migrants and refugees, and the fight against Climate Change.
This year's three-day MSC saw the participation of 600 leading politicians and experts from around the world, with an agenda centered on the West’s strategy regarding the Ukraine issue.
